Orchestra Concert: The kids were amazing and had a wonderful time at the orchestra concert at the Mendel Center on Friday. 
                     


March is Reading Month: Order forms for the author visit on the 26th were due last Friday. Links to his books are in Google Classroom. We have also been listening to them in class!

Science Olympiad: I randomly chose 4 students, from the ones who turned in permission slips, to represent our class for the science olympiad. They are Layleana, Caidence, Nash, & Wyatt. Unfortunately, we had to limit how many could go. Those not chosen will still be able to extend their love of science by helping me prepare & lead our class science activities. At Upton, everyone can join!

Math: Last week, we completed unit 6/lessons 3-7. This week we will work on lessons 8-12. Extra practice using the IXL textbook is available for those who struggle. Your child can also front load and work on the upcoming lessons to feel more confident in class!

Music: Remind your child to bring his/her recorder to school on Thursdays for music. 

Recess/Weather: Remember to send your child with proper outdoor clothing for recess, including a change of socks & shoes. Thanks for your help!

All About Me!: Each week a student is the All About Me student. They have completed a poster in class and get to share special things about themselves each day. When it is your child's turn, I will send home a paper stating everything he or she needs. Caidence is up this week!

Sarett Trip: Please note the date on our grade level trip to Sarett is April 25th at 11:50. Our program will be from 12:15 to 1:45. Parent who would like to chaperone, may meet us there. Remember you must have a volunteer form in office from this year and you can pay there when you arrive. Remember to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes!

Birthday Treats: We have students with allergies to gluten, tree nuts, and dairy. Please try to be mindful if you send a birthday snack with these items. I do have Skittles for those affected. Thanks for helping to keep everyone safe!

                                                              Sarett Nature Center : Parents are welcome to meet us at Sarett Nature Center on Friday at 12:00. Please email me if you plan to attend, so I know how to best split up the kids into hiking groups. You will pay the entrance fee when you arrive. Our tour starts at 12:15. Remember to dress for the weather since we will be hiking! MStep Math: W e will start the test on Tuesday and will finish on Wednesday.                                                                                  NWEA Reading: We will take our final NWEA assessment for reading on Tuesday and Wednesday. As always, students are allowed to bring gum, mints, or Jolly Ranchers to "wake up" their brains. Please avoid absences and make sure kids are prepared to show how much they have learned this year! Track Meet: We are in need of a wagon and volunteer to travel with us at the high school on Friday for the track meet. The kids will put their water bottles in the wagon so they can stay hydrated while they compete in the various events. Smart Watches and Phones: Please note that students are not allowed to wear smart watches or have phones during the school day. They may leave them powered off in their backpacks.
