Friday: To celebrate all our hard work this trimester, we will have a read-in this Friday. Students may wear pajamas and bring a blanket or pillow to cozy up with while reading. Students may also bring extra books from home because they will be reading most of the half day!

EL:  As shared at Back to School Night, we are piloting new ELA instructional materials in grades K-5. This resource offers a rigorous and balanced literacy approach for our learners, engaging students in reading, writing, listening and speaking. While our commitment to addressing essential ELA standards has not changed, the order and manner in which standards are assessed in this pilot may be different than in past years. As such, you may not see a reported measure for every ELA standard on your child’s report card. Please also refer to the comments provided, as well as ongoing communication and conferencing, regarding your child’s progress in ELA. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

End of 1st Trimester: Reminder that the goal in 4th grade is to be proficient(score of a 3) by the end of the school year. If your child receives a score of a 1 or 2, he or she will be working on that standard in class and during bear time until it becomes proficient.

Weather: With the change in weather, please make sure your child has a hat, gloves, a coat, and dresses in layers. We also ask that if possible an extra pair of shoes or boots stay in the locker for recess on wet days. We allow them to play in the grass when it's wet, only if they have a change of shoes. This new carpet still looks great and we sit on the floor a lot in our room. Thanks for your help with this!

Music: Here is the recorder link in case you want to complete it online. All orders are due by Monday, November 18th.

Math: This week we finished lessons 11-14. This week we will work on lessons 15-18. Extra practice using the IXL textbook is available for those who struggle. Your child can also front load and work on the upcoming lessons to feel more confident in class!

All About Me!: Each week a student is the All About Me student. They have completed a poster in class and get to share special things about themselves each day. When it is your child's turn, I will send home a paper stating everything he or she needs. Avery is up this week!
